Most Recent Projects:
Fall 2005: Development of partnership with Ministry of Health for plague and infectious disease control in Uganda: Genesis is developing a partnership with the Ministry of Health, Uganda, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Division of Vector-borne Infectious Disease to develop strategies to study and control plague in the northwest region of Uganda. Completed a field study evaluating low-cost plague control methods in a plague endemic area.
Summer 2005: Developed a rodent control program for the International Rescue Committee in Sierra Leone refugee camps. The multimammate rat, Mastomys natalensis is the reservoir host for Lassa Fever in this region. We visited the affected camps and developed a training program and consulted on current issues regarding rodent control.
