Our highly trained and diverse staff of rodent and insect specialists has developed innovative solutions for the management of plague, leptospirosis, Lassa fever, leishmaniasis, malaria, and Lyme disease.

Genesis Laboratories has worked with organizations such as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Department of Defense, and the Centers for Disease Control to develop novel vector control products.  We have provided onsite disease vector management program development for local communities and readily provide disease management education.

Genesis Laboratories houses a BSL-2 insectary with numerous active colonies of arthropods of public health interest.  In addition, Genesis Laboratories maintains a BSL-2 molecular facility with capabilities for parasite detection and bloodmeal analysis.

Often neglected diseases, such Lassa Fever in Sierra Leone,  Plague in Tanzania, or cutaneous leishmaniasis (known as Kala-azar in India) in the Middle East, are pushed aside for more prevalent diseases in the world.  These, when combined, cost thousands of human lives each year.  Genesis has worked in Africa and Asia on developing methods for control of the vectors.  Our research in Sierra Leone, as an example, resulted in simple, effective traps to capture and reduce the vector, the multimammate rat (Mastomys natalensis).  Products researched in the Middle East are currently under review by agencies such as the US Department of Defense to address the spread of cutaneous leishmaniasis that is impacting UN troops and residents of   Afghanistan and Iraq.

Combo Baits were invented to enable efficient rodent control, as well has the disease carrying rodents they host.  These one of a kind products have proven to be very effective public health tools.
